Great Backyard Bird Count: Day One

We had a great first day looking for birds in our neighborhood.
We spent an hour and 15 minutes birdwatching in various areas of our neighborhood and saw:

4 Red-winged Blackbirds
4 Ruddy Ducks
2 Northern Mockingbirds
2 Anhingas
1 Great Blue Heron

There were other birds we saw, but since we weren't able to identify them they went unrecorded. Two new birds we learned about today were the Red-winged blackbird (gorgeous) and Ruddy Ducks.

Our field guides came in handy today!
Tomorrow we hope to start our bird watching earlier in the day.
