While on vacation I found myself assigning copy work.
A mentor of mine (who was a kindergarten teacher) told me that this was a very effective punishment when she was raising children and teaching. I hope she is right.
Anyone else do this before?

I have not done that before, but may in the future :) I have 8 yr old twin boys. Whenever they get grumpy with each other (physically or verbally) I will often make then sit down and say something nice about the other one. Honestly, after that they will usually hug and apologize. Though, I do like the copywork idea-getting 2 things done at once ;)
I have been using this form of discipline for a couple of years now, and have to say that it is THE ONLY form that seems to work with my oldest. He hates "doing sentences", and so a warning will usually correct his behavior!
That made me giggle. Good idea, I may need to have my daughter write out: I will listen to my Mom. LOL!
OM!!!! I must do this with my 6 year old!!!!

I have not used it with my kids yet, but I remember it being a very effective discipline tool with me, because my teacher made us do our initials in graph paper. All three initials in each tiny square.
One side if youre bad, double sided, if youre reaaally bad...

A friend sent me your way! I'm so glad she did. This post reminds me of a post I wrote about my oldest girl, 5 at the time (now 6). Made her write a letter of apology to her ballet instructor. And a verbal apology as well. (She was disruptive once in class.) Noticed I said "once"...She hasn't been in trouble with her ballet instuctor since!!!
