Creation Museum

We took a field trip recently to the Creation Museum located in Petersburg, Kentucky. It was our 2nd trip. We are 5 year charter members and made the journey last year when it first opened. We really enjoyed going again, there were many new things to see and many old favorites to revisit. By far, one of the favorites for our young children was the new petting zoo area; the stargazers planetarium and dinosaur exhibits also made the list of favorites.

If you've never been to the Creation Museum we highly recommend it for Christian homeschoolers. It's about a 3-4 hour day depending on how many shows you see.

We usually arrive around 10:30 or 11am and prefer to start with the botanical gardens and petting zoo. If the weather is nice, its a beautiful walk with lots to see. Then we take in a show (Men in White is great!), have lunch (you are allowed to bring your own, but we don't), go through the exhibits, catch a story time if we can, see the dinosaur den, visit the gift shop, catch the stargazers planetarium show and then go home!

Toddler Tip:
-Bring a stroller. The exhibits require a lot of walking and sometimes waiting. Once you enter, it's not easy to go back or exit and then return. You have to walk all the way through! Make sure you have everything you need before you enter.

Travel Tips:
-If you have a membership card, or a friend's membership card, you can avoid the long lines.

-Don't bypass the photo in the front of the museum. It's a nice keepsake that you won't want to miss. Plus, there is no obligation to buy.

If you visit the Creation Museum, please let us know what you thought.
We would love for you to share your own travel tips in the comments.
